Hi, opening this thread for posting issues and other thoughts about the PatchManager.
Issues so far:
- the patch manager requires java 1.6.0, sadly this release is not available for PPC macs, we are working on trying to find a solution
- often the problem with uploading firmwares seems to be related with the USB-MIDI interface. If you have trouble or if uploading seems to stop, try to simplify the MIDI setup (disconnect other MIDI devices). Also, if somehow a bad firmware has been uploaded to the device or if the uploading process gets stuck (MC shows "WRONG CHECK"), turn off MC, hold down Button4 (top right), turn on the MC, which should show "BOOTLOADER", release Button4, and try uploading again.
- the patch manager will show a "status return code 1" error after uploading a firmware, even though the upload was successful. This is not important and we'll fix that in the next release.
just installed the PatchManager (WinXP). Using a TM-1 I'm having problems uploading new firmwares to the MC. The MC display indeed shows BOOTLOADER but the uploading process stalls indefinitely. When I manually stop it (after longer than 10 mins) I get that code 1 error. Any idea?
Nick was having trouble with the TM-1 yesterday as well, I will have a look at the TM-1 + Windows XP combo and tell you what I find. Do you use any other MIDI software at the same time, or some merging things?
Same here, (WinXP) and there is no new program installed...still same ol' MD Monster... Anyone notices warning triangles 'flash' Next to midi in/out? (when you click send patch-in the new window that opens?)
Warning: do not push on TOP right button (or any button) while uploading patch. You will get "WRONG CHECK" message that is hard to get rid off...
WinXP sp3 here. It might be the TM1 though. it wouldn't be the first time that little beatch doesn't work properly here. at least I got it for free... bleah...
lcvl, do you have another MIDI adapter you could use? I have been trying with my TM1 (got it in july), and it seems to be working fine. Also, did you ever tried to upload a firmware using the MidiDuino environment? It looks like soundklinik is able to upload it with that tool, which is very weird as basically the program used to upload it is the same. Hope we can find a solution on this, I'm putting together a few more different windows XP machines to see if I can reproduce it.
I'm waiting a bit more before releasing the new dev environment, should not be long though, so that you can compile the firmwares yourselves. I'm giving a shot at compiling the soylatte 1.6 environment on the powerpc, will let you know how that goes, but I'm not very optimistic.
I am getting the same error (firmware upload initiates but hangs) with the tm1, padkontrol, and audio kontrol 1. I am updating java now and will respond withany success as I was at 1.4 runtime before. Strange as I got in 3 successful firmware uploads with the tm1 before this. I'm on win xp latest SP all updated.
super super weird... ok this doesn't seem to be an interface problem then... trying with another windows xp machine i have here, then gonna try on another notebook. I hope I can reproduce this.
I don't think it's gonna be a java issue, as the program to upload the firmware is a normally compiled binary. Are you using 64 bits CPUs by any chance?
if somebody has this issue, before updating java, can you check in "add/remove programs" which version of java is installed and write it down here. I'd like to check what happens exactly, the midi uploading is handled by a command line program so I'm wondering what the weird issue here is exactly.
leo can you have a look at add/remove programs and tell me which java versions it lists there? I tried older java versions but all my interfaces are working fine here n my windows machine. is there anything useful in the log file?
Did you try other USB ports? I'm going to upload a debug version which will show more information of the USB transfer.
alright lcvl, let it rest for now, and i'll upload a version later on that will display much more information about what's happening on the MIDI level, this makes no sense right now. Thanks for the patience, I'll try to find a windows machine that breaks here. so far my 4 machines with XP worked...
yes i can reproduce it, with java6 u4 in my vmware fusion with a fresh install of SP3 and the TM1. Happy days, now i have a hold n this one and will investigate it. Will keep you updated.
I got also Java-6, update 15, (which it installed this morning automaticaly anyway), but I re-installed it just to be sure. My CPU is AMD Athlon64 2X 6000+ (dual core) Still, NO go... I am using M-audio midiman midisport 1x1
I don't know if this is of any help, but when I look at midiman as i push upload button, (both midi lights (in/out)briefly flash- then nothing, normally they stay lit when transmitting) It seems the message gets blocked omewhere... maybe lack of "midi delay" time?
yep that seems to be exactly the problem, should come up with a solution soon, and will post an upgraded version. I never used windows much, so the whole thing is not really tested as well as the OSX version. Now that a lot of people are going to be using this we'll probably have a nice stable version soon.
MY GOD IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I uninstalled (deleted) the previous version, and BINGO! First upload it "choked" but i resent it.Fine! PLUS the midi merging WORKS!!! I can use my PCR-300 sysex,CC,kbd.... I simply enabled ALL just to try... CONGRATS Manuel!:) You made my day!
